I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Issaquah, Washington. I received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Seattle. I interned at Sound Mental Health, counseling a diverse population including children, teens, couples and families. I continued as an employee for over six months. At that time I decided to return to a passion of mine – working with aging adults and their families. I have extensive experience with families dealing with dementia and Alzheimer’s. My group work includes Life Transitions for Women and Caregiver Support for those living with Dementia (including Alzheimer’s). I have also performed telephone crisis intervention at a county agency as a volunteer. My education continues with workshops and classes on a regular basis.
On a personal note, I am married, have grown children and grandchildren. I have traveled extensively and confirmed that no matter what country we live in, what language we speak or religion we believe, the human experience is very similar. I started my graduate program later in life, as I believed integrating my life experience with education and training would be optimal in becoming a professional therapist. In my work, I am constantly encouraged as I witness the resilience of the human spirit.
Things I have learned on my journey:
Our past can inform our future; it does not have to own us.
In the process of healing the pain, there is room for humor and light in the darkness.
As we progress through our adult years we gain wisdom, confidence, creativity and humor - how we share it and who we share it with is what matters.
The learning never stops.
